Whilst Facebook users are in decline, new, young users continue to sign up and engage with Instagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, the majority of internet users aged 16-24 said Instagram was their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hootsuite.com\/resources\/digital-trends-q4-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">favourite social media platform<\/a>. Women aged 25-34 did too. So if you\u2019re looking to reach out to Gen z, Instagram is where you need to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialfilms.co.uk\/blog\/instagram-uk-statistics#:~:text=With%20over%2025%20million%20business,connection%20between%20makers%20and%20consumers.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">25 million<\/a> business profiles on Instagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost half of the UK population actively uses it. And more than 80% of those users choose to follow businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, we\u2019ll let you do the maths. Instagram is a great way to reach a lot of people. Fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Insta-rules<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re using Instagram to sell your products or services, it\u2019s important to keep up to date with their <a href=\"https:\/\/help.instagram.com\/1627591223954487\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rules and regulations<\/a>. If you don\u2019t abide by their rules, you could make yourself vulnerable to a claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For most, insurance won\u2019t be mandatory, but it\u2019s still advisable to protect yourself. There are all sorts of little hiccups that can cause you big problems when selling on a social media platform. And no pretty filter is going to fix them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are a few tips on how to toe the line:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Get familiar with Instagram\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/help.instagram.com\/478745558852511\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">terms of use<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/help.instagram.com\/477434105621119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">community guidelines<\/a>, and other <a href=\"https:\/\/help.instagram.com\/1627591223954487\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">agreements and policies<\/a>. If you\u2019re directing users to your website, you\u2019ll need to <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.facebook.com\/docs\/sharing\/domain-verification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">verify your domain<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/product-safety-for-businesses-a-to-z-of-industry-guidance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the UK government\u2019s regs<\/a> and see if there are any specific rules relating to the products you sell.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you\u2019re selling internationally, make sure you check the shipping regulations for each country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Label your products correctly and include instructions. Tell customers how their product\u2019s made and what to do with it. But don\u2019t let that scare you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several different types of insurance for Instagram sellers. Just pick the ones that are most relevant to you. Then you\u2019ll be free to concentrate on putting smiles on Instagrammers\u2019 faces. And on putting your business well and truly on the map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve outlined the types of Instagram insurance you\u2019re most likely to need if you\u2019re a social media selling sensation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Product liability insurance.&nbsp;<\/strong>This\u2019ll protect you if something you sell causes harm to something or someone. Such as an adverse reaction to face cream. Or a faulty electrical item causing a fire. Whatever problems unfold with the items you sell, product liability will cover your legal fees and any compensation you owe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.policybee.co.uk\/business-contents-insurance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Stock and property insurance.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/a>This is to cover your stock if it gets damaged or stolen. It\u2019ll also cover fixtures and fittings, equipment, and anything else you use to run your business if disaster strikes. Public liability will pay for your legal defence and any compensation awarded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.policybee.co.uk\/employers-liability-insurance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Employers\u2019 liability insurance<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong>&nbsp;If you hire anyone who isn\u2019t part of the family, be it part-time or even voluntary, it\u2019s a legal requirement to have employers\u2019 liability insurance.
